Shortly after I arrived in Paris, my singer-songwriter friend Alex Rossi released a song in collaboration with Julien Barthe of Plaisir de France called “Chien” which stuck in my head for a long time. Listening to the lyrics, I did some research and discovered the French proverb “Tous les chats sont gris la nuit”.

On a Sunday afternoon, after we did a photo shoot in the Porte-Saint-Denis neighborhood (where we were looking for a pizzeria, but some elderly prostitutes kindly chased us away because they thought we wanted to take photographies of them) and in the Père-Lachaise cemetery (where we went in search of a grave that we never found, because the name on the tombstone had changed in the meantime), while having an aperitif in Ménilmontant, I asked him the authorization to use the phrase “Tous les chiens sont gris la nuit” (believing that he had only changed “cats” to “dogs”) for the title of a photographic exhibition that I was invited to organise. Only then I discovered that the refrain of the song is actually “All dogs are bored at night” (and not, as I had always thought, “All dogs are gray at night”).

From there, the reason for titling the exhibition this way: in addition to being a phrase that embodies the “fil rouge” behind all the photographs and has a musical sound due to the three rhymes, that misunderstanding perfectly reflects my being “rital”.

Presentation

Summer Camp #2
It is after lockdown that Deviant Disco launched the first edition of the Summer Camp: a bunch of music lovers, keen on pop music but also on cutting-edge electro sounds, gathered for three days in an old mansion in the south-west of France. Two years after, we decided to start it over and to launch a second edition dedicated to Italian music, by inviting the most Italian of French pop-singers, Alex Rossi, and the electronic music duo La Notte di Parigi, plus some djs close to Deviant Disco’s aesthetics. We will offer you a unique experience of a long weekend in a charming mansion with a swimming pool situated in a vineyard: the Domaine de Coubillou. Get your tickets now, so that you and your friends can enjoy an exceptional venue near Béziers.

Domaine de Coubillou
Just 40 minutes from Béziers and the nearest beach (Valras), the Domaine de Coubillou is set in the heart of the Haut Languedoc Regional Nature Park, surrounded by vineyards and mountains. It is a magical place, built in the 17th century near the Gorges d’Héric, one of the most beautiful gorges in France carved out of gneiss. (www.coubillou.fr)

La Notte di Parigi was born in 2018, the result of a meeting between musician FK Club and singer Eva Peel. A few years earlier, Marc had remixed “Silenzio”, a track from Eva’s previous project, Theremynt. The two artists combine their musical and cinematic influences to write a four-handed story where cold wave, italo-disco, rock and synth pop come together. After being released on Bandcamp via Deviant Disco, they have just signed to Kwaidan Records and are distributed by Wagram Music. (www.soundcloud.com/lanottediparigi)
